Daniel got a lot of new track to expand his slot car track for Christmas, and he wanted me to share these pics with you.

Pics, lots of pics. No stories to tell right now–just pics.

I have been late in getting these posted. These are pictures of Dawn’s 2nd birthday party. The outfit she’s wearing is a Dora the Explorer Princess Dress Up costume; she opened the package and immediately wanted to wear it. She was too adorable in it.

Here are some photos from Halloween, which I never got around to posting sooner. I didn’t get a good shot of Dawn in costume (she was Princess Leia), nor one of Daniel with his mask on (he was a Clone Trooper).
Here too are a couple of pics of Dawn opening gifts last night. It was her birthday–she’s two now!–and she looks like Hell, because she had a fever and had two medicines in her (ear infection). She got into the spirit despite her illness, even proclaiming at one point, “Birthday, yay!”

Woo hoo! It’s jack-o-lantern time!
Carved tonight. The kids were really getting into it. First, Daniel and Dawn both did laps around the pumpkins–I kid you not, for like 10 minutes, they did laps and laughed. Then they helped me scoop them out. I did all the cutting myself, exept for Robin’s, of course.

From L-R: Daniel’s (he drew the face himself), Robin’s (typical geometric shapes look), mine (scary, as usual), and Dawn’s (which I carved).

This year, the family endeavored, once again, to find a local cider mill that could hold even a meager birthday candle to Uncle John’s cider mill, which is, IMHO, the pinnacle of the cidering experience in Michigan.
Once again, we were disappointed.
Our choice this year was the Plymouth Orchards Cidar Mill, which I thought *had* to be good, because it was near Michigan’s only IKEA. Alas, none of that Sweedish greatness rubbed off on our mediocre cider mill experience. The place itself was small and muddy (it had been raining). They had some animal pens for the kids to see goats and ducks, which was kind of neat, but the pumpkin patch, such as it was, was closed; and, I found out, if it had been open, we would have been paying for a wagon ride to get there!
I didn’t even have time to stop at the IKEA while I was out there. Seriously, bad day.
So where did we end up? Back at the Kurtzahl’s farm store, on Sibley Rd. (down by the old homestead). Quality pumpkins, plus they were still stocking homegrown produce. No pumpkin patch, but at 2 for $5, I don’t complain!
Below are some photos taken at Plymouth Orchards, which had some big wooden cutouts for photos, plus Daniel cowering in the cart at Kurtzhal’s (yeah, it was 45 degrees and windy yesterday).

As social media has become more popular, I’ve been able to reconnect with old friends and distant family. I’m enjoying the connections. Since this blog is supposed to be all about family connections, I want to make it part of the new media “network.” Blogs, as it turns out, are passe.
To make this blog more modern, I’m going to be doing some linking back-and-forth with Facebook and Twitter. I’ve put my personal Twitter feed up on the side, and soon I’ll be linking this page to both mine and Robin’s Facebook accounts. Any blog post will also appear on my Twitter feed; and since any post on my Twitter feed also becomes a Facebook status update, I’ll be able to draw more attention here, so I can share the events of life for the Dearborn branch of the Hudson family.

As is our custom, we made our way to Greenfield Village for Halloween nights. A little earlier than we usually do, ut Robin said she wanted to avoid the “really cold” nights later in October … so, of course, it was freezing that night, because Michigan is messed up.
Daniel didn’t want to wear a costume this year, so he just wore sweats. Dawn did not wear a costume either; by the end of the night, though, she was wearing chocolate all down her jacket.

Perhaps because he’s been drawing in kindergarten, but Daniel got bit by the Art bug this weekend and drew the family. I think they’re quite good. He even signed them!
